What is a tandem skydive?

Tandem skydiving is the easiest and most hassle-free way to make your first skydive.

You will be in a dual harness, securely attached to your instructor who will give you a taste of what skydiving is all about. You’ll experience the amazing thrill of free-fall skydiving and enjoy a long parachute descent.

Because the tandem instructor takes control of  all the vital functions, such as opening the tandem parachute and landing, your preparation for the jump only takes about 20 minutes and you’ll have nothing at all to worry about.

The highest tandem skydive we do is from 15000 feet*, the highest skydive without oxygen.

* 15000 feet available from our Cessna C208 reg G-GOHI

Tandem Skydive Safety briefing

You will receive a safety briefing from one of our tandem instructors. The instructor will explain, in detail:

  • About the parachute equipment used and the harness you will wear.
  • How you will exit the plane.
  • Your free-fall position.
  • What you are expected to do when reaching the ground.

You will demonstrate to the instructor your exit position, free-fall position and landing position. (See photos below)

The experience starts with a comprehensive training session from a certified instructor. The training covers all the necessary instructions on how to jump out of the plane and how to land safely. Everything is explained to ensure that the experience is as safe and enjoyable as possible.

Once the training session is complete, it is time to take to the skies. As the plane ascends to the jump altitude of 10,000 feet, the excitement and anticipation of the jump builds with stunning views over Liverpool, The Wirral, and North Wales unfolding. The views are breathtaking, and there is no better way to experience them than from the sky itself.

When it is time to jump, the instructor will perform a last minute safety check. The sensation of free-falling at speeds of 120 miles per hour is indescribable, and the sensation is unlike anything else. The wind rushes around the body, and the adrenaline levels reach new heights, making the experience incredibly exhilarating and unforgettable.

Once the parachute opens, the pace slows, and the jumper is treated to a gentle descent back to earth, allowing for a few moments to take in the beauty of the surrounding area. The views are stunning, with the Liverpool Skyline visible on cloudless days, combined with the natural beauty of North Wales and the Wirral. Skydiving is a safe, enjoyable, and unforgettable bucket list activity that everyone should try at least once in their lifetime.

Equipment and Clothing

The parachute equipment used for a tandem skydive is specially designed. The actual parachute is over double the size of sports parachute equipment because it is supporting two people. The harness you wear is attached at four points to the front of your instructor.

When it is time to do your skydive, you will be supplied with a sexy jumpsuit to go over your clothes, a pair of goggles and some head-wear. We suggest you wear something loose fitting but comfortable underneath the jumpsuit.  Jogging bottoms or tracksuit bottoms are good, but jeans are too close-fitting for comfort. Trainers are perfect for footwear and, once you are kitted up in your jumpsuit and wearing your harness, you will go and wait in an area we call the Pen. It is an area where you get checked out before you board the plane.
